Missouri continues to debate the rights and independence of a woman.
"Powerless" is a mindset; it is also an emotion and sometimes a physical reality. Freedom isn't always a choice. Our world continues to battle over who has the rights to flesh and wildly casts judgment based in fear. I angrily fluster at the pointlessness of these debates. To what end and why? I can fight with my mind, but my heart sinks...
So I danced in the wild forest in a dress that was once my mother's; gratifying her strength to overcome the depths of her thought-to-be-wasted-life, and have a child, on her own: me. Without knowing how or if it was possible. She stood against her odds and created her own freedom from within. A warrior.
And I danced in the wild forest for the grace of my mother when she drove her child, me, 23, to the clinic against her own conviction, but supporting my will to challenge subservience. Determined to show me, against the odds, the strength I had within to find my own freedom. A teacher, and a warrior.
And I will continue to dance in the face of false-dominance, so I can never feel powerless if my strength and freedom is harnessed from within. Faith is determination and freedom is a personal choice. We find strength in our teachers and the warriors that came before us, learning again about darkness and light... and as warriors, to never give up the fight.
“What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.”
